How do I know which bots are being detected and excluded from the Interaction Analytics graphs?

In this article, we will show how we proceed in detecting bots and how they are marked in the Interaction Analytics graphs once they are detected.

In this article, we will show how we proceed in detecting bots and how they are marked in the Interaction Analytics graphs once they are detected.

Detection of Bots

In addition to a library, we use several mechanisms to detect bots for Interaction Analytics based on the user agent:

  • All user agents which contain ‘Bot/’

  • All user agents which contain ‘AmazonProductDiscovery/1.0’

  • All user agents which contain ‘cXensebot/’

  • All user agents which contain ‘AhrefsSiteAudit/’

The above list shows the current status and may change over time.

Implications for Interaction Analytics

In case the bot is detected by the user agent, it will be marked as a bot:

  • The interaction by the bot will not appear in the Interaction Analytics graphs in the Admin Interface.

  • In the downloadable raw data, the interaction / CMP display will appear with “browser” = “bot”.
