How can I tell if a Major, Minor or Patch Change has occurred in my SettingsID?

This section gives an overview/introduction about how to notice any change related to 3 types of patches. We will mainly rely on the admin interface to investigate the changes in detail.

This section gives an overview/introduction about how to notice any change related to 3 types of patches. We will mainly rely on the admin interface to investigate the changes in detail.

Overview

Patch change history

You can check this using the versioning in the Usercentrics Admin Interface under “General” → “Settings History”. Major, Minor and patch changes are encoded in the patch version.

Example: Version 6.2.43

  • If the first number (6) changes, a major change has occurred.

  • If the second number (2) changes, a minor change has occurred.

  • If the third number (43) changes, a patch update has occurred.

Major changes

  • Adding or changing a purpose

  • Adding or removing new data collected

  • Adding or changing data recipients

  • New processing company

  • New retention period

  • Change (adding or removing) of data location (when outside of EU)

  • Change in data transfer to Third Countries

  • Change in legal basis (when consent is required for a service that was under legitimate interest before)

  • Adding a new Data Processing Service

  • Removing a Data Processing Service

  • Customising a pre-defined Data Processing Service

Minor changes

  • Change in address of processing company

  • Change in data protection officer

  • Small typos or changes in wording, which do not change the meaning

  • Change in opt-out link

  • Technologies used

  • Category label

  • Change in link to privacy policy/cookie policy

  • Changes in the description of service

Patch changes

  • Small updates that have even less impact than a minor change will be tracked as patch change, for example updates of the banner color.

Connection between updates of data processing services and the Settings Version

Whenever you run a major, minor or patch update (see list above) on a data processing service, this will also add one count up in the Settings Version.

Example: Your Settings Version is 5.3.7 and you have a data processing service in version 2.6.1. You now run a minor update on that data processing service. This will result in the Settings Version being changed to 5.4.7 and the version of the data processing service being changed to 2.7.1.

Summary

Now you should be able to check upon any change related to your setting ID and differente between the 3 types of changes that we offer.
